Online Store Setup Workflow

In order to set up products for your online store, you will need to set up Umbrella Products and associated individual products. Specific instructions on setup are located both within this section, as well as the Inventory, DCD, and Subscription guides. The recommended steps are as follows:

To set up Umbrella Products and associated individual products:

1.    Step 1: Add the Product Options and Product Review Screens
The System Administrator will need to add both the Product Options and Product Review screens to the appropriate menu. The menu where the additions are made is entirely up to your preference. In order to add these screens, see the Adding the Product Review and Product Options Screens topic for instructions.

2.    Step 2: Set up Product Options and Choices

Note.png Before you can begin this step, you will need to make sure you have set up the desired Product Options and Choices.

When creating your Umbrella Product(s), you will need to have designated a set of Options and Choices so that these properly display on your site for customers to choose from. For example, Options can consist of Color, Format, Size, and etc. Choices will fall under Options. For example, the Color Option choices may be Red, White, and Black. For more information on how to set up Product Options and Choices, please see Setting up Product Options and Choices for Umbrella Products.

3.    Step 3: Set up Individual DCD, INV, or SUB products
Umbrella Products and individual products can only be associated with Inventory, DCD, or Subscription products. It is recommended that you set up any individual products first before associating them with an umbrella product. This allows you, after you create your Umbrella Product, to select your individual product and associate it with your Umbrella Product without having to go back and perform an extra step. For more information on setting up these individual products see the following sections:
Creating a DCD Product
Creating an Inventory Product
Creating a Subscription Product

4.    Step 4: Define Umbrella Products
Once you have completed the steps 1-3, you will be ready to create your Umbrella Product(s). Umbrella Products serve as a parent product to the individual products you associate them with. For example, perhaps you sell shirts that say “TMA Resources” on them and you sell them in multiple sizes (e.g., S, M, and L) and colors (e.g., Red, Black, and White). Each of the individual shirts would be part of the TMA Resources Shirt Umbrella Product and the colors and sizes would make up the individual products. For more information on how to set up an Umbrella Product, please see Creating an Umbrella Product.

5.    Step 5: Define Options for Umbrella Products
Once you have associated the desired individual products with Umbrella Products, you can then assign the options you set up earlier to the Umbrella Product or each of the products individually or in a group. Each option contains an easy drop-down menu to assign to the products you have selected. You need only select one or more options for your products. For more information on defining options for Umbrella Products, please see Defining Options for an Umbrella Product.

6.    Step 6: Define Umbrella Product e-business Control
To complete your setup, you need to set up the e-business control for your Umbrella Product(s). It is similar to setting up e-business control for individual products with a few additional settings. For more information on defining Umbrella Product e-business Control, please see Defining Umbrella Product e-business Control.
