There are two ways for Personify users to include their own Crystal Reports in Personify: either as an online report linked to a Personify screen, or as a TRS (batch) process.
Online reports can be linked to a screen in Personify, and certain data can be passed from that screen to the Crystal Report. Putting the reports online makes it easier for users to find and run the reports they need from a Personify screen. However, the output is not saved for future use unless it is exported out of the application.
If the system takes more time to produce the output, you may switch to a TRS task.
TRS (or batch) reports are submitted to the TRS server. The advantages are that the output is saved on the TRS server, and reports that take a long time to run can be submitted while the user continues to work on other things.
The Crystal Report that you are going to integrate needs to be created with an ODBC (RDO) connection to the Personify database. Also make sure that parameter names in the report do not have any spaces in them.
The report should then be uploaded to BusinessObjects server which was discussed in the prior chapter.
