Data Analyzer Overview

Note.pngThis section is not intended to be an extensive User Guide for the BusinessObjects Web Intelligence tool; instead, it is intended as a supplement to Business Objects’ documentation.

Web Intelligence, or Webi, is the third-party reporting tool from Business Objects that integrates with Data Analyzer and Personify which gives you the ability to create and view custom, or on-the-fly, reports. It must be installed independently of the Personify installation as a part of the BusinessObjects installation by a system administrator.

As a business user, you can create a customized report in just a few mouse clicks and then view it on the fly in several formats. This feature is helpful for users, with appropriate access, to create reports and queries without having to rely on IT staff or administrators to do it. Personify also offers a number of sample reports, which are pre-loaded reports that you can view.

Webi is a Web-based query and analysis tool that acts as the front end for analysis of stored data. It works around a central repository called a universe. As you will learn in greater detail in this section, the universe is the business presentation layer that hides the complexity of the underlying database schema.

Data Analyzer provides a number of default universes for you to use; however, you can customize a universe or create a new one. Once your universe is in place, you use objects and filters to create reports. Your system administrator will define security settings for each user that dictates whether or not certain users can access a given universe.

Note.pngPlease note that Data Analyzer is a different product than Personify Analytics Advantage. The latter is the business intelligence/data warehouse solution offered by TMA Resources.
