Setting Permissions for BusinessObjects Enterprise Applications

This section explains how to set specific permissions in BusinessObjects Enterprise to provide different access types to different accounts, such as different access types to multiple admin accounts.

Note.pngIf your organization decided to retain the default BO Admin account or created a single Admin account in the previous section, then please proceed to the next section as this step is optional.

This section only details the steps for a specific set of permissions designed for an Everyone Group; however, you can follow a similar instruction set to create a unique set of permissions. Please review this section before determining if you would like your Everyone group to have the following permissions.

To set the permissions for applications in BOE:

1.    Explicitly deny all permissions for Desktop Intelligence for the Everyone group.

2.    Explicitly deny all permissions for Designer for the Everyone group.

3.    Add rights for Designer for the admin user.
You can add the rights through the Advanced option and when you open Designer in Personify, the following rights will display for the explicitly granted rights:

·            Log on to the Designer and view this object in the CMC.

·            Check Universe Integrity.

·            Refresh Structure Window.

·            Use Table Browser.

·            Apply Universe Constraints.

·            Link Universe.

4.    Add the local default group to InfoView.

5.    Deny permissions for InfoView for the default user group.

·            Organize.

·            Create Categories.

·            Assign Categories.

·            Create Dashboards.

·            Create Folders.

6.    Add rights for the default admin account so that it has the same rights as the default group, but also includes the ability to create folders and dashboards.

7.    Grant all permissions for Web Intelligence for the Everyone group.
